World Day of Prayer - March 1, 2013

The World Day of Prayer is observed annually on the first Friday in March. It is an invitation for Christians to pause and pray together ecumenically and recalls Christian responsibility to be sensitive to the signs of the times so that we might bring a more authentically Christian dimension to the concerns of our world, our country, our community. Sponsored by the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada and its national counterparts around the world, it is celebrated in approximately 165 countries. Source: Ordo, Liturgical Calendar 2012 - 2013, page 151.

World Day of Prayer  can be an opportunity for moving toward a more important role for prayer in the life of our Christian community.  A World Day of Prayer service will be held in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (82 Kent at Wellington Street) on Friday, March 1 beginning at 1 p.m.  Speaker:  Huda Kandalaft, originally from Homs, Syria. Theme: I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Everyone is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served following the service.
